RICKETT'S GLEN
22 WATER FALLS
Rickett's Glen State Park in Pennsylvania has more than 20 waterfalls of various sizes, all waiting for us to come and photograph them. They range in heights from over 90 feet to just a few feet high. As the path is l aid out, there are several opportunities to capture two or three of them in a single photograph.

Set in east-central Pennsylvania, the state park is a short drive from Wilkes-Barre where we will be
lodging for this stunning chance to capture waterfalls.

Waterfalls are always a photographer's favorite subject. This is your Road Trip! We will spend two days wandering the woods to enjoy and capture these waterfalls and beautiful scenery. What a glorious opportunity to practice your slow-motion waterfall capturing techniques.

And if you don't know what I am referring to, this will be a huge conversation while we are there!
WHAT TO EXPECT
Ricketts Glen State Park is one of the most scenic areas in Pennsylvania. This large park is comprised of 13,193 acres in Luzerne, Sullivan, and Columbia counties.

Ricketts Glen harbors the Glens Natural Area -- a National Natural Landmark. Hike the Falls Trail System to explore the glens, which boasts a series of wild, free-flowing waterfalls, each cascading through rock-strewn clefts in this ancient hillside.

The 94-foot Ganoga Falls is the highest of 22 named waterfalls. Old growth timber and diverse wildlife add to the beauty.

Natural wetlands, old growth forests, and majestic geological formations (which helped produce 22 beautiful waterfalls), make Ricketts Glen an excellent choice for outdoor studies.

WATKIN'S GLEN
SIMPLY BEAUTIFUL
Picture nineteen waterfalls plunging through a spellbinding natural gorge, complimented by exquisitely crafted man made stone staircases and bridges. No, you have not been summoned to the council of Elrond in Rivendell. You are hiking the Glen Creek gorge trail to Rainbow Falls inside Watkins Glen State Park, the extraordinary crown jewel of New York’s Finger Lakes region.

Rainbow Falls is an incredibly photogenic natural terrain and unquestionably the park’s gasp-for-air, weak at the knees knockout feature. But Watkins Glen State Park is not a one trick pony.

The entire 1.5 mile length of hiking Watkins Glen gorge trail is breathtakingly beautiful.
LODGING
Camera, tripod, filters, lenses, shutter release, Hoodman loupe and whatever other gear makes you happy. Also bring your laptop with Photoshop and Lightroom already installed and working. Sunscreen, sunglasses, bug spray and a hat are advised. Having layers of clothing is great as you can take off and put them back on as the temperature changes. Having rain gear available is not a bad idea either.
Rain gear for your equipment, too!
WHAT TO BRING
IN THE CLASSROOM
This is a hands-on opportunity so bring your computer! I have discovered that offering critique sessions during a Road Trip greatly increases your growth. Being able to shoot, critique, adjust and understand during a workshop is a very efficient and
rewarding way to learn.
ZOOM
I will offer a Zoom session about a month before the Road Trip to introduce ourselves and reveal the itinerary. Then, shortly after the Road Trip, I will offer a Zoom session on post-processing our newly created images. This is an ideal situation because we are all comfortable at home with our familiar computer setups. We will also take a look at your imagery as I can offer critiques and other helpful and positive feedback.
YOUR INVESTMENT
For your investment you will have the opportunity to photograph over 20 waterfalls and unique landscape. On site education, as much as you desire. We will also hold a classroom situation on the Road Trip as well as a Zoom session once we return home.
