THE NORTHERN LIGHTS

Fairbanks, Alaska   |   March 2 - 7

$2500

THE HEAVENS COME ALIVE

Have you ever seen the Aurora Borealis? The Northern Lights, as commonly know by, is such a display of light and pattern. Ever changing and impressing. If these are not on your
bucket-list yet, you'd better
add them
so you can check them off!

March is the best time to go to The Last Frontier to witness this amazing show of the Northern Lights. Join us next March for this event you'll
not soon forget.

Yes, it will be cold! I am sorry about that but with today's clothing opportunities and some hot toddies, you'll be just fine. Or at least you'll be smiling a lot while witnessing a display of light like
you can't imagine.

We'll spend five nights photographing the lights.

I won't lie to ya . . . sleep is not a priority on this trip.

The Northern Lights can entertain all night.
Since the sun is low in the horizon during

the day, "sweet-light" is prevalent morning
and late afternoon. You know, that lovely light we pine for the rest of our photography lives that
is short lived
right before sunrise and sunset.

Yup, it gets extended for a couple

hours each session.

WHAT TO EXPECT

Well, as I stated earlier, sleep is not necessarily on the agenda for this trip. Actually you can sleep on the plane on the way to and from Fairbanks.

We have a lovely hotel in town that we visit a few times each day. Seriously though, not only is it worth it but there will be time for sleep, really.

We maker a visit to the Chena Hot Springs NE of Fairbanks where everything is frozen. From the hot springs to the creek and every tree and rock,, there are so many great macro opportunities. As stated before, hot toddys are a big part of this Road Trip!

We'll visit the Ester Dome Observatory area, Nenana, Chena Hot Springs , North Pole and more locations.

Very warm clothes are suggested. Layers are a great idea. Hot Pads ( buy anywhere like a sporting goods store or Amazon.com) are a must. There are a lot of heated clothes and jackets these days, check into those. Hat, gloves and a face cover is necessary. Yes, you'll be cold but trust me, it is soooo worth it!

WHAT TO BRING

Camera, tripod, filters, lenses, shutter release, Hoodman loupe and whatever other gear makes you happy. Also bring your laptop with Photoshop and Lightroom already installed and working. Sunscreen, sunglasses, bug spray and a hat

are advised. Having layers of clothing is great

as you can take off and put them back

on as the temperature changes. Having rain

gear available is not a bad idea either.

Rain gear for your equipment, too!

IN THE CLASSROOM

This is a hands-on opportunity so bring your computer! I have discovered that offering critique sessions during a Road Trip greatly increases your growth. Being able to shoot, critique, adjust and understand during a workshop is a very
efficient and
rewarding way to learn.

IN THE CLASSROOM

ZOOM

I will offer a Zoom session a couple of weeks following the Road Trip. This is an ideal situation because we are all comfortable at home with our familiar computer setups. We will take a look at your imagery and I can offer critiques and other helpful and positive feedback. Then I will offer my step-by-step process of how

I interpret and enhance my imagery.

YOUR INVESTMENT

For your investment you will have the opportunity to photograph some stunning display of Northern Lights and the breathtaking landscape of Alaska in the winter. Ya, it's cold . . . but so well worth it!.
