DEATH VALLEY

Two incredible national parks & one stunning state park . . .
ROAMING AROUND ANSEL'S BACKYARD
Hallowed photographic grounds. At least from a photographers perspective. Ansel Adams made this his home, so to speak. Many other photographers, famous and not so famous, have regarded this national park as the place to get the best images. Agreed! There is such a special atmosphere in the park that one could swear that Ansel is just over
your shoulder guiding you. I will add that my Dad is with Ansel,
both of them overseeing my photographic journeys.

So, won't you join the three of us for an amazing opportunity to experience and photograph what is considered to be the
"park of all parks" in the national park system.

Stunning rock formations, waterfalls, clouds, wildlife and such an experience await us in Yosemite. It seems that everything
in the park is photogenic. Even the twisted trees and
moss covered boulders require your attention.

El Capitan, Half Dome, The Merced River, Three Brothers . . . ya, I'm just name dropping now. But, why would you miss any of this whether you've been before or not. Experiencing this heartfelt
opportunity with me and a few photographer friends as
if for the first time in this wilderness. You can't help but
feel the spirit of the Earth on this Road Trip.
WHAT TO EXPECT
We will be staying in Merced about a 40 minute drive to the southwest. This is a beautiful small mountain town at the end of a stunning drive from the park.

This Road Trip being in April will see chilly weather in the early mornings. Usually very pleasant temperatures during the day are nice. This early in the season, Tioga Pass and the high country will still be closed due to winter snow still on the roads. There is still plenty of park to experience, though.

We will photograph from the Tunnel View and the Yosemite Valley View points as made famous by Ansel Adams. We will be visiting Bridal Veil Falls, Yosemite Falls, Vernal Falls, The Three Brothers and other famous points in the park. We will also walk to the Mirror Lake and Half Dome vantage point. It's about 3 mile round trip but all on a nice asphalt trail and no elevation gain. So there!
Another treat as we come into the park from Merced, are many cascades in the Merced River. There are also many beautiful waterfalls of varying heights and lengths to see all thoughout the park.

Early spring offers many soft colors to enjoy. And of course . . . black & white photography is a must. We will specifically work on black & white imagery throughout the Road Trip. Buckle up as this Road Trip is a stunner! Prepare to capture many, many exciting memorable images.

LODGING
TBD
WHAT TO BRING
Camera, tripod, filters, lenses, shutter release, Hoodman loupe and whatever other gear makes you happy. Also bring your laptop with Photoshop and Lightroom already installed and working. Sunscreen, sunglasses, bug spray and a hat
are advised. Having layers of clothing is great
as you can take off and put them back
on as the temperature changes. Having rain
gear available is not a bad idea either.
Rain gear for your equipment, too!
IN THE CLASSROOM
This is a hands-on opportunity so bring your computer!
I have discovered that offering critique sessions during a Road Trip greatly increases your growth. Being able to shoot, critique, adjust and understand during a workshop is a very efficient and rewarding way to learn.
ZOOM
I will offer a Zoom session a couple of weeks following the Road Trip. This is an ideal situation because we are all comfortable at home with our familiar computer setups. We will take a look at your imagery and I can offer critiques and other helpful and positive feedback. Then I will offer my step-by-step process
of how I interpret and enhance my imagery.
YOUR INVESTMENT
For your investment you will have the opportunity to photograph some of the most incredible landscapes in the national and
state parks system. There are a lot of unique views and
landscapes to photograph in the parks
we will be visiting in Utah.
