CANYONLANDS, ARCHES & MORE
N0vember 8 - 12, 2019
Two of the most incredible National Parks in the US . . .
Moab is such an amazing place to spend time at and photograph. Canyonlands, Dead Horse Point, Castle Valley and Arches are located just outside of Moab, UT and are so incredibly diverse in their landscape . . . and from each other . . . it is mind-blowing. The overlooks, rock formations and colors are simply astonishing! And what sweet light before sunrise and after sunset do to these structures and views is just breathtaking. We're going to cover a lot of ground going to both the Needles District and Isle in the Sky District of Canyonlands. Dead Horse Point State Park offers us stellar overlooks and Arches is like an alien landscape with scenery that will stick in your memory forever. Come experience and photograph these great areas with me and let's have fun and create some amazing fine art images.

In the Field
Camera, tripod, filters, lenses, release cord and whatever other gear makes you happy. Sunscreen, sunglasses, bug spray and a hat are advised. Having layers of clothing is great as you can take off and put them back on as the temperature changes. Having rain gear available is not a bad idea either. And rain gear for your equipment, too! More detailed info about gear after you register.
In the Classroom
This is a hands-on opportunity so bring your computer! I'll share with you how I edit and prepare my images in Lightroom and Photoshop. I also use the NIK Software suite. Have these all loaded and running on your computer before the class, please!
For your investment you will have the opportunity to photograph some of the most incredible scenery in the American landscape. The rock formations are stunning. The scenes are breathtaking and the variety of landscapes is amazing! Sunrise ad sunset make these locations that much more beautiful. And . . . I will offer all of the in-the-field education you can handle.
I will offer a couple of image critique opportunities and we'll spend a day in the classroom where I will share with you my techniques in Lightroom & Photoshop that I use to create my style of fine art imagery and help you create your own style. I've found that when I offer these "away from the camera" opportunities, attendees become better photographers in the field. Having feedback on your images and an extensive idea of how to process, enhance and present your imagery will make you a more creative and imaginative artist
Some of the topics and techniques I plan to cover include:
- Adjustment layering and masking in Photoshop CS5
- Topaz Studiio
Texture overlays, borders and other creative presentations
Lots more as time permits
